About Me

Pusung and I

Amy Atherton

I started this blog as a journal about my involvement with great apes and dogs.

I'm currently studying at Flinders University towards a degree in Biodiversity and Conservation. My interest in great apes and the welfare led me to spend two weeks at the Jane Goodall Institute sanctuary as a volunteer, which has further cemented my passion for these amazing animals. I visit Monarto Zoo frequently to watch and photograph their chimpanzee group which is a source of great enjoyment to me.

In July 2011, after a couple of years of dogless-ness following the passing of our dear family Golden Retriever, Tiggy, my Saluki girl, Bella came into my life. Through her I have been getting into the world of dogs and have started competing in conformation showing.

My other interests include digital art, and photography.

About Bella

Bella

Bella (or Baghdad Cool Coquette as she is formally known) is my first Saluki, and my first dog who is 'mine'. She's mischievous, loving and a bit of a princess, it's a joy to have her in my life. I've yet to meet any dog who can 'out play' Bella, when she's having fun she can just keep going for hours! Bella is just getting started in her show career, which is a big learning curve for both of us, but a lot of fun!
